Getting to know us and how we work

We specialize in serving business owners, high-net-worth individuals and their families. If you are anything like our clients, professionalism, competency and courtesy are expected norms at our practice. Our clients rely on our money management experience and knowledge, and trust in the confidentiality of our dealings. They expect us to hustle, and find us extremely reliable in this because we are on the lookout for problems before they arise. We believe you would agree that “the best surprise is no surprise.” Not everything is predictable, of course, but what we can prepare for, clients deserve to have exposed to the light of day so we can understand and act accordingly.

Clients appreciate our warmth and responsiveness to their needs. We are careful, attentive listeners to your questions and concerns, and when there are options for you to weigh, we are deliberate in our explanations. Then, we give you the time to consider. This is at the heart of our client-centered approach: to understand your specific needs and provide you with viable alternatives with your best interests in mind.

We have created a series of videos that we hope you will view as your time permits. They are intended as a thoughtful introduction to our services and our relationship with Raymond James, as well as how we view our role in a relationship working with you to find solutions to your needs.

Journey

For years, you have carefully built toward the goal on your horizon. It’s best to know not only where you are going, but also what to be prepared for. Having an experienced guide on your side can provide the help you seek.

Chaos

A brief synopsis of the 2008-2009 financial crisis and an invitation to consider the calmer seas of more recent times. The strength and stability of Raymond James helped the firm persevere without any write-downs, layoffs and bailout TARP funding – while many competing firms did succumb to such negative outcomes. In fact, Raymond James has enjoyed more than 100 consecutive quarters of profitability, going all the way back to the 1980s.

Your Strategic Advantage

Our proactive process for managing your investments
The investment management plan we customize for you provides a framework for pursuing the four objectives you have for wealth – to manage, preserve, bequeath and transfer it. As your wealth advisors, we address each as part of your overall plan.

Process

Orienteering
We begin this process together by getting to know you: what your life is like, your family, your work, your hobbies, and so on. Learning what you want your money to do for you, and where you want it to take you, is the only way to truly tailor your investment portfolio to your life. We like to refer to this process as “Your Life, Well Planned.”

Creation
Then, we continue with careful analysis of your portfolio, and we do so with the overarching premise that you want to preserve what you already have and that you are concerned about losing it. So, we must construct a risk budget in order to help your wealth grow at an appropriate rate for your needs without adding more risk than you’re comfortable with. Many professionals try to define this in terms of you tolerance for risk. We take it an important step further by also carefully defining your capacity to take on risk. Combining both is critical to developing a useful risk budget.

Implementation
Before your plan is put in place, we give you time to think it over, to sleep on it, and be sure about your decisions. We believe fire drills are good practice in everyday life, so we’ve employed a system that tests your readiness for variable that may surprise you, and shows your capacity to withstand and overcome the unexpected. Then, when you’re ready, we move forward.

Validation
After your portfolio has had some time to develop in the markets, we sit down together to review your plan to ensure it’s performing in pace with your goals, and that it continues to respond to your needs. We are disciples of an institutional process of wealth management, constructing portfolios that over time are designed to measurably improve your chances of attaining your goals because we budget risk. We’re passionate about helping you understand in perhaps a new way how your decisions with us are validated by a system that from creation to reporting serves as a lens, focusing the technical data into a clear picture of whether you’re in range, or risk being out of range, of accomplishing your goals. It’s not just about reaching your destination, it’s about being able to remain there comfortably and confidently once you’ve arrived.

Investing involves risk and you may incur a profit or a loss. There is no assurance that any investment strategy will be successful.

What to bring to our first meeting
We will devote our first meeting to learning about your financial situation, your goals and your needs. It is important to bring any documents that may help us understand your overall financial picture. This can save time and better assist us in developing your financial plan.

Documents you should bring include:

  • Financial statement
  • Tax returns (previous two years)
  • Wills and trust documents
  • Business agreements and succession documents
  • Investment/bank account statements, IRA and 401(k) statements
  • Declaration pages from insurance policies (health, life, disability, property, etc.)
  • Loan terms (maturity, interest rate, etc.)
